Operation Shoebox - Afghanistan
Options
We have been busy getting boxes together at work for Operation Shoebox where they send boxes out to the troops in Afghanistan. From the website it says today is the deadline for dropping off the boxes. About a week ago I emailed 4 different people off the site to find out where to drop the boxes off, but had no response. I'm now beginning to wonder if this is a "true" charity appeal!?
Anyone got any advice. The local drop off points need to be near Rugby or Leicestershire.

Hi mummyemmy
If this is 'Operation Christmas Child' who are now part of www.samaritans-purse.co.uk I can vouch for the fact that they are very much a "true" charity which was started in my local town and they have a celebration service planned for the 12 December 2010 when they will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary.
They are a National Charity and have collection points all over the country.
I hope this helps. We seek a world in which everyone with HIV/AIDS can live an abundant lifeWant to join us?0 -
Hiya
There are only a few charities that are authorised by the MOD to do the shoebox appeal, Support our Soldiers is one of them. I dont recognise the one you mentioned. However the closing date for the Christmas appeals for them all has now passed, as we try and leave the last week of posting for family and friends so the 'important' ones dont get disrupted.
Support our Soldiers do send out to the troops throughout the year tho, so if you go on the website, you should be able to find the local Area Corordinater that will be able to send out again in Jan, if you like?0
