I need to buy new carpet for my flat. Hallway, living room, and the 2 bedrooms.
All the walls are cream and I have no idea what colour would go? Was thinking biege or light brown?? Ive been into a carpet shop and didnt realise there were so many types/colours!
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I'd go milky coffee coloured if you get what I mean by that - too dark and you get to see every spot of white fluff, too light and you get to see every spot of dark fluff. I've got a black and white cat so I'm snookered either way.
I'd never ever get cream carpets though - rented a house with them and they've driven me slowly insane... then bought a house - with cream carpets. Trying desperately to find the cash for laminate instead even though they're good quality and new - I just can't take the pain!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
We've just done our entire house and the majority of it is a light beige - walls are mostly off white or cream.0

I did mine in 'milky coffee' colour too. Goes with everything and not so lpale it shows every mark..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

Id agree. Ive got my house all cream / magnolia and forked out for brand new carpets a few months back. Went for a light cream colour which looks awesome but shows every single little mark. Next time I will go for something slightly darker - like a coffee colour.0 -
Thank you all! Im going to go to the shop (again!) tomorrow and get samples0

Never buy a dark blue carpet.....!!! We have inherited two different dark blues in two different houses - shows every single bit of fluff, cat hair you name it. Here we have a soft golden beige twistpile and it's very forgiving! My neighbours chose well for their hall/stairs/landing, they've got a very narrow striped carpet in shades of beige, cream, pale gold & rust and I have to say it's looks lovely and far nicer than I'd have imagined if I'd seen a sample in a carpet shop. Another little tip - velvet pile carpets show every little mark in their nap, a twistpile doesn't.0

i just got an oatmeal carpet which looks good0

Rather than cream, go with a biscuit/wheat colour with flecking over a small range of tones. The last thing you want is a pure, light colour where every mark will shine out.
For the hall, consider a sisal type carpet for wear properties.0 -
I'll eco that, avoid one pure colour.
I had a really nice cream berber carpet, but what a nightmare for showing every single blemish. You'll be forever cleaning it.
This time I searched long and hard for a berber with more than one colour and the one we have now is fantastic.
Looks good still. Might be able to post a pic if I can get it to work....0 -
