Hiya All,

Friend got an Acer lappie, the cursor just disappears off the screen, he cannot shut down lappie properly sometimes as cursor goes absent, anyone got any ideas why.

Is this a wireless mouse? If so it may be getting moved right down (where on some machines it can disappear - it does on mine) by interference. It could just be that the touchpad is active and it's getting moved accidentally.

Anyway - turn on trails in the mouse options and "show location when I press CTRL" to make it more obvious. If it disappears press CTRL and it should show up even if it is below the visible area.

You don't need a mouse at all on windows as there are keyboard alternatives although they are very klunky.

Ta for info, he only uses lappie pad, no mouse.

This is a long shot, but perhaps some form of extended desktop is enabled.

Try:
Right click on your desktop and then click on properties.
On the new window that pops up, click on the Settings tab. You will see monitor 1 and monitor 2. Click on monitor 2 and then unselect "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"

See if that helps.
