Hi all,
I currently receive a fuel card to use in my personal car for work and i also receive a car allowance to fund my motor.
I understand that tax needs to be paid as it is a benefit in kind, do i pay National insurance on these also or are they excempt?
Secondly, if i am paying tax on these payments through my wage can i claim the tax back for all the running costs to the car as the way i see it is i get taxed on my mot, road tax, insurance and repair items and the payment i receive from my employer to fund the running costs also get taxed, am i and others not paying twice the tax???

My husband gets his car and all petrol paid for by his firm and only pays tax on the petrol used and the value of the car.
He does'nt pay national insurance on these things.
He has car tax/insurance and services/tyres etc included in the package so I don't know about claiming back ect for those in particular but I don't think you can do that actually.
I think they estimate these things when estimating the tax due in the first place.
Someone more knowledgable may come along and help better.0
