Problems with Bank/Savings Web Sites, particularly ICICI HiSAVE

I thought it might be useful to create a thread on here and compare notes concerning problems that we experienced with Internet Banking and/or Savings Web Sites.

For the past couple of weeks, I have been experiencing rather too many negative feelings about what I see on my monitor when I access the ICICI HiSAVE web site. I'm not really sure though, if these problems are down to 'me and my computer and my browser settings' or whether it really is the fault of the web site concerned.

I know ICICI recently had a need to 'upgradate'. By my reckoning, they need to look at things again! It has troubled me that my own experiences haven't caused them to either do this or announce any difficulties with their site.

The ICICI web site has a lot of orange background and orange buttons. When I enter and go first to the main page things are mostly OK. Then I click on an orange button and a new pop-up page appears. (I'm fairly sure it is a pop-up page rather than a page launched by my browser changing its URL address with the site, because the new page has no browser tool bar at the top of its page)

Anyhow, to the point. The buttons are present but they have lost their background colour and with most of them I even have to guess as to what button actually is because the button labelling font has gone missing. Indeed, quite often, even the Log Out button box labelling has gone blank.

Also, on some of the 'within the web site' pages, where there is quite a lot of writing, the font has changed from the more usual 'Arial' type font, to more of a 'Times New Roman' font.

I actually think myself, that they have a server problem.

Occasionally too, I get a Windows Script Warning message appearing on my own screen.

I have switched off my pop-up blocking to enter the site and the font, page font and button labelling problems still remain, whether the blocker is on or off.

Now of course, this is an Indian bank and their CS people, whom I have found of late to be helpful and attentive and also polite and well speaking, are not very computer aware. Thus it is so very hard to relay to them my negative Internet related experiences concerning their site. The conversations I have had with them usually end by them asking, "And would you like to make a Transfer?" They act more like 'message takers' and they can give no technical help at all.

However, I cannot see anyone else mentioning similar difficulties with the ICICI HiSAVE Internet site on any of the pertinent ICICI HiSAVE threads on this Forum. Hence this special thread.

Is it just me? Am I alone with these problems and this persistent experience?

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

The new ICICI website works here.

    Which browser are you using?

If IE6, try upgrading to IE7 and/or using Firefox

I was using IE6 but upgraded to IE7 and have identical experiences.

I will try Firefox as you suggest and then report back.

    Hmmm?

Tried Firefox and the result was:-

All absolutely perfect! A lovely and totally nice speedy experience!

Am now going to run my Spyware program (Adaware), just in case.

Just tried in IE7 - worked perfectly. Only time I've had probs is copying my user id in rather than typing it in. Then it's no login.

Using IE7, just like I used to use IE6, I knocked off my Google Tool Bar and also my StumbleUpon Tool Bar too. Then I logged into ICICI HiSAVE through 'Your Money' on the Egg Money site.

All went well to start with but as the number of ICICI pages I clicked on increased, the more their site's web page system showed me the usual problems over the few minutes I was on.

Eventually, all the buttons had blanked out and I had to guess at the Log Out button's name. Fortunately, I now know it's location on the web page really well. It still works, even though I can't see it that it says 'Log Out'.

I have done several Scheduled transfers. They look as though they might well work as the list of them all is quite complete.

    Strange...!!
  • ICICI are pants. I've has the same display problems as the OP although I'm not overly concerned about that. I've emailed them about the standard of their service since the upgrade and as yet have had no reply. I asked for a transfer in of funds on Monday 16th which finally appeared in my account today 24th. Eight days! They've also failed to pass on any of the recent rate rise, gave no explanation about taking DDs twice, offered no compensation for this.

I've had enough, my cash is going elsewhere.

I've had a problem as well: I went through the process of withdrawing money to my linked current account on 2nd October but it never arrived even though it had gone from my ICICI account. Sent a secure message to them on the 17th saying where is my money, they replied quickly (next day) and said the would look into it. Yesterday I finally got the money back but back in my ICICI account! Have done a transfer and hoping that it will work this time.
