I'd just open a NPB on day 4, as their request is uber-cheeky, and asking AFTER they've won is just rude.

If they don't pay on the 20th Dec, you then might run out of time (or forget) to open a NPB.

What was the next highest bid?

Just reply politely saying that as per ebay rules, they only have 4 days to pay, so you can't wait until 20th December for payment.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Thanks for all the responses, just to update on this. The winning bidder has stated that they cannot afford to pay the £32 deposit I asked for and has apologised for messing me about, so I offered it to the second highest bidder, and wouldn't you just know it, they have declined so it looks like it will be getting relisted. I will be opening a NPB claim soon as I can which will be tomorrow.

Don't relist until the NPB is closed in case the first muppet comes up with the money.

Seconded. By the time the NPB gets close to closing, they may have managed to come up with the cash. But if they offer to pay after the NPB is closed, sod 'em. They had their chance. And close the NPB as soon as you can.
