Second front door needs planning permission

HI

My painful selling experience drags on and on. I've read most of the "sellers support thread" since Pauwpurrs first post. How many moons ago was that?

Anyway, my buyer wants to know if he needs planning permission to add a second door to the property. I presume he would but couldn't find anything about it on the government planning portal website. Its pretty odd I guess ! The front door would be in place of an existing garage door which is about 1M from the front boundary of the property.

Any help most gratefully received !

  • Why don't you tell your buyer to ask the local planning dept?!

Surely that is something for your buyer to discuss with his legal representation and you local planning department?

    Is he Asian?
  • Hi

Thanks for the replies and that is what we thought too! However, the buyer is not from the UK and is unaware of a lot of the procedure. In fact he only found out that he would need permission very late on when his solicitor informed him about planning laws!

Essentially, I'm not sure he has the uk experience (not to mention language skills ) so he's relying on me to check this out!

Really he should be relaying on his solicitor to advise, after all you could tell him anything and it may or may not be true.

  • Yes I agree but what can I do?
  • get your solicitor to write to his and tell him that it is up to him to sort this stuff out as you don't want to be responsible in case you pass on wrong information.

Either tell him whatever he wants to hear and sell your property or tell him to use the professional he is paying to answer his questions.

Your answer should be "not as far as I am aware but I am not an expert so you shouldn't rely on my opinion".
