    At director level you would have been responsible for hiring and firing.

    I am sure that when you terminate someone else's employment you do not compensate them over and above the necessary payout for their hurt feelings.

    Most people would feel hurt by being made redundant, dismissed etc, but this does not lead to an enhanced pay-off. Many of those people would have earned much less than £40K+; which would have given them less of a cushion than you should have.

    Your post comes across as grasping, whiny and hypocritical. I am sure you didn't mean it to, but that's what I felt on reading it.
