has anyone any advise? my son aged 19 lived with his father until august and last year had a grant and loan from SAAS. he started a new course in august having failed miserably in his first year of his last HND course and he claimed under the false start rule. everything ok there. '''' except my OH was working full time last year but left to do a PHD starting in August. i also had reduced my hours in March and now work part time plus all overtime ceased so our income is about £60k pa down on last year. We applied to have parental income assessed on this year's anticipated income which we were told would be acceptable. However, after a discussion with SAAS last week i was told that as my OH wasnt made redundant but left work voluntarily to go to uni they had to go with last years income. this leaves us with a parental contribution of just under £4k a year and my son is travelling to Glasgow by train three days a week with very little chance of even getting his travelling expenses. Now the issue is that i got married in June seemingly the they wouldnt have taken account of my OH income if we got married in August because thats when they accept a change in circs. However is it just the parent's circs they look at. My son the students circs changed in August as he was with his father before that. has anyone any idea if i can appeal against this and if so what grounds thanks

I don't know why you have to pay for uni fees if you live and go to uni in Scotland. Uni is free there for residents.xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

The grant and/or loan is for living expenses, not tuition fees.0
