Vinyl underlay query

I'm wondering if there is an alternative to boarding as underlay for vinyl flooring ?
This is for a kitchen which is floorboards and I want it to feel substantial underfoot and extend the life of the flooring .

I thought the standard , was using hardboard , with 'hundreds' of copper pins.I want it to feel substantial
Don't quite understand .
Do you want it to feel thicker than it is ?0 -
Not thicker, I'm planning to get good quality,I guess I don't want to be left thinking I should have taken more care to think about the underlay in terms of proper support for the vinyl. I've read about stuff called jumpax but can't find prices. Seems it is two layers that get bonded together, probably out of my budget.0

Don't suppose it is any better than hardboard but mine was prepared with 3mm ply.
Can't fault it.Forgotten but not gone.0
