Under insured Caravan

Hi and Help
I have a new for old policy on my caravan. 2 weeks ago it suffered damage when the awning was blown away in high winds.
The loss adjuster called and inspected the damage to the caravan and agreed repairs of about £1500 with a local agent. The awning is a write off.
I paid £12,000 for the caravan in 2007 and £500 for the awning. I insured the total package i.e. caravan + all accessories for £13,500 and have paid the renewals based on that amount annually.
I have just received a letter from the loss adjusters informing me that the caravan insurers say I was under insured by some £1500 on the total sum leaving £47 to claim for a replacement awning.
They tell me that the replacement cost of a new "similar" (the exact model is no longer made) caravan is £13,453 according to Glasses guide.
The problem is the model they are using for comparison is a 6 berth, we had a 5 berth which is a different layout. Similar 5 berths from alternative manufacturers are within the price I was insured for.
I could agree with their calculations if I had suffered a "total loss", or the exact model was available, but feel they are pulling the wool over my eyes.
How do I proceed? Any advice appreciated.
Cheers
Paul

I bet if you had claimed for a total write off you would have wanted the same make etc for value
Without reading the full terms of your policy its hard to say but if its new for old and your meant to insure the replacement value then they may be justified.
Its a fairly regular occurrence on here people demanding the next model up when replacing a tv or something else because they refuse to take another make.0
