Joint Agents - how does it work? how much do they charge?

We are putting our house on the market, but as we live in a rural town, i would like to put the house on with our local agents and one in the nearest city.

How does it work?

The local agent charges 1% commision but do we have to pay both agents commision or just the one that sells it??

    mine said it was the same cost to me, and they split it so if ur the same it wud cost u 1% regardless of 1 or more but could be diff, why not ring and ask
  • Multi agency where you can have as many agents as you like marketing the property, fees vary from agent to agent but YOU only pay the agent that sells the property.

    Some agents do charge slightly more for Multi but I would negotiate with the ones you choose and if they think your house is saleable they will negotiate on their fee.
    My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

    Or you can go joint sole agency which means two agents and normally the selling agent gets a higher % and the one that doesnt sell also gets a cut, this is normally cheaper than multi agency where winner takes all.
