Hi,
I have a Scandisk 2GB card which I want to use to play music in my car. I can only get 138 tunes on it then Error 0x80070052: The directory or file cannot be created. Properties for the card are Used space 568MB/ Free space 1.33GB.
I have tried reformating but same problem. What am I doing wrong?

What filesystem are you using when formatting? They sometimes come formatted with FAT, which is ancient and has lots of limitations. If the device you are putting it in supports NTFS, I'd use that.
Another possibility is that it may be faulty, or it may (despite being labelled as made by Sandisk) be a fake.
Have you tried one of the utilities that will check that the reported size is the same as the size of data that can be written to it?0 -
Where did you get the card from?Stompa0

thanks for your prompt responses.
Please be advised:
File size is as reported by system which utility would you recomend?
I shall reformat to NTFS and try again.

Download H2testw and run it on your card, it is a test program and will tell you if there are any faults. Note it will take some time to do the test so perhaps let it run overnight.

I have set the link to the correct program for you, this got me a refund on a fake sd card when I presented the evidence to the supplier.0 -
This is what I got from softpedia
Warning: Only 1899 of 1937 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 4.35 MByte/s
Reading speed: 7.10 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
I have reformated to NTFS and it worked a treat.
