Argos - reducing prices on item I've just bought

Hi!
Can anyone offer any advice on this:
Last Thursday, I bought two chests of drawers from Argos for £60 each (£120 in total) - I've received an e-mail from them, saying that - until the end of the month - all furniture is now 15% off the catalogue price; this would be an £18 saving!
Is it just my hard luck that I bought it last week, at the higher price, or is there anything I can do?
Thanks in advance!
Dave

You could buy at the lower price, and then return them with the old receipt. Or return the old ones and then buy at the lower price. They have no obligation to refund the difference.0

That is exactly what I would do.0 -

For £18 it would have to be right on my door step!!!!The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

so if theyd put the price up would you be willing to go in and pay the extra ....... i dont think soReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

If you want something from Argos and don't need it desperately it is worth watching the price of it for a few months. Very often the prices go up and down like a lady of the night's knickers!
Eg I've been watching a particular skateboard since the summer. This weekend the price went down by a tenner! That's 25% off! So I trotted off and bought it. Now 3 days later the price is back up to £39.99 again.
Result!
So if you have the time - watch the price. That's the web price not catalogue as catalogues aren't always up to date.0 -
I had a problem with an item I'd bought from Argos. I also noticed the item had gone down. When I phoned them about changing the item, I mentioned about the price going down. They sent a cheque out for the £50 difference. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

I cannot speak for Argos, but when i used to work for Comet we had a company policy (that, as you can imagine, we weren't allowed to "promote" unless people asked) that if you bought something from us and the price was lowered within a certain amount of time (either 14 or 28 days, i forget which) we would refund you the difference if you came in with a reciept of your purchase.
You had to ask to find this out though, so i suggest that you go straight back to argos with your reciept and ask if they have a similar policy (or maybe just phone up). If they dont do this, as someone said just get a refund and then buy again at the lower price. As long as they offer you the full refund for unwanted item (which they dont really have to do).0 -
To be fair this is a very stupid OP. Imagine you bought something on christmas eve then it was down in the boxing day sales would you moan about it then?

And we are on a site about money saving. So, if the company is willing to give the difference back, then it would be silly to refuse. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. I think you got very lucky. or are lying. A shop can change its prices however it likes - even 5 mins after you have bought something. it doesn't mean they have to honour the cheaper price to you
As was said before - would you pay up if the price increased after you bought it? I don't think so.one of the famous 50
