Hi I have managed to fit and connect a DSN 2000 wireless netgear modem / router it only took three days and many hours, how I got it to connect to the computer I do not know. Everybody kept telling me you do not need the Resource CD to connect up, “not true” there was no way it would have connected without it. Now to the issue I now have, I want to try a modem only so I bought a netgear DM111p from Ebay. when it arrived there is no resource disc so I have spent all day up to now trying to get it to work without a disc. My computers operating system is Windows 7. At one point I got this message from my computer (Local Area Connection doesn’t have a valid IP configuration NOT FIXED.) I have been trawling the internet but cannot see what I am after. Can anybody tell me how to get it working simples method only please.

"you do not need the Resource CD to connect up, “not true” there was no way it would have connected without it."
how so, pray tell ??? You should never need an install CD for a router, all you should need is your ISP username and password.
Modems can be much more touchy, though...probably need to find the driver/utility for it. First stop Netgear's support site for the downloads......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
p.s. sure you've got the correct model #, it doesn't show up on Netgear's site (or a google search either) ????......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

It probably be the Netgear DGN 2000 .
Plug telephone line in plug ethernet cable in to computer other end into modem plug power to modem switch power on .
Open browser type 192 something something and + password enter and set up router .
OR- Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
- To install your router, simply click on the "Setup Wizard" link at the top of the left-hand navigation menu once you are logged into your router.

The problem is the netgear modem does not have a connection so I cannot log into anything.

Type DM 111P into google it comes up for me.

Hi JJ Again the problem as said to GunJack is when I swop Modem / Router to Modem only, there is no internet. So when opening, I presume, in my case IE 8 being the Browser and typing 192.168.-.- nothing happens.
Any other ideas appreciated. :beer:0 -

Hi Gunjack
Been on netgears website and downloaded what I believe to be the updated drivers earlier on today but it made no difference. I did not at the time, think that would of made any difference because I had the same problem trying to set up the DGN2000 and I did not look for updated drivers. I have even disconnected my anti virus ect while trying to install the modem.

bizarre !! when I tried to search netgear site and google earlier, nothing showed
just checked netgear site, setup should be easy:-
connect modem up to phone line and pc (remember to apply power !!)
open a browser and type 192.168.0.1 into the address line and hit enter
at the login box that pops up, username - admin and password - password
use the wizard to set up the internet connection, you'll need your ISP username and password
note:- you won't be connected to the internet until after you've done the above, only the modem......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

=======
I wish. Tried what you said, again, I might add I've tried that numerous times already all to no avail.
note:- you won't be connected to the internet until after you've done the above, only the modem

That puts my mind at ease a bit. put another way, that explains things i didn't know. Thanks
Any Other Idea's appreciated  Cheers.0 -
Best thing to do is hard reset the router, Get a paperclip or something that small to poke into the reset switch at back disconnect power and reconnect.
Connect router to laptop via ethernet cable - make sure lan connection properties are set to DHCP.
Wait for it to get connected run CMD, ipconfig check what the gateway IP is set to then go to http://192.168.?.? what ever it displays in ipconfig, Then you can change all your settings.
you need modem and router selected or you wont be able to operate lan unelss you have a switch/hub or something.
Hopefully im on the right track :P0 -

Hi pcombo thanks for trying to help
The above I have done quite a few times, I also did it quite a few times when I installed my DGN 2000.

I don't think it makes any difference but I am using a PC, and yes I did this.

????? steady this is just about going over my head

This is where the problems begin :- The DM 111P in my mind is not seen by my computer with the Ethernet cable connected, but as I'm back on the DGN 2000 to post "this" when I press network in the start menu the DGN 2000 shows, so to me my first issue is getting my computer to recognize the DM 111p

I don’t think I have a switch/hub. Thinking on no I do not have.
IM confused again (you need modem and router selected) where do I go to check this out ?????
Thinking again about it, it must be to be on the internet with the DGN 2000.
=======================
Hopefully I’m on the right track :

please, please again thank you for your time.
