Any Help Apreciated, RE: Florida/ clubcard deals

We are saving clubcard points for a florida holiday.

We have £525 saved, and are due £95 in Nov.

x 4 that gives £2480 to spend on a holiday.

I don't think you can use it for disney passes, car hire etc, which isn't a problem.

How are we best converting this into a holiday? There are 2 adults and 3 children (5, 7 and 9)

Are Air miles best, or is going with virgin.

I don't have a clue.

Never been anywhere other than a brief trip to france!

What other costs are there?

passports, airport parking, spending money....

Don't mind when we go, have been told January is proably cheapest.

Can't take the kids out of school for more than 10 days.

Prefer Manchester Airport.

Thanks very much for any help.

I am so looking forward to going on an aeroplane!

Will keep saving the clubcard points if need be!

I would call Virgin and get a price without CC and then get a price with using them
If you use airmiles you wil til have to pay the tax which can be as much as flights with other operators
For 2 + 3 you need to be budgeting about 1000-2000 for pass's depending on how many parks you want to go to but they can be found off the net at lower prices than most operators offer them
Car hire now isnt really needed transport round Orlando is good and often free between parks when you buy your tickets
January is probably cheap but weatehr wont be too brillaint May (first 2 weeks) is nice not too hot or expensive.
Can you use them on Cosmos too?
Get a full list of all the comapnies that you can use them and phone them all but get a price first without using them so you get to compare whos the best deal.
Spending money is one of those things you would have to decide how much you need
You can eat out quite cheaply using the vouchers that cn be picked up from anywhere.
You can even get free theme park tickets if you are prepared to do a timeshare presentation where they even feed you and its not hard sell IMO well worth 2 hours out of your holiday

Can I ask how you managed 90+ this 1/4 all i managed was 42 its been a reall struggle this time
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
  • Hi

I just used the codes posted on MSE, Some weeks I order with my account some weeks with my husbands so we can use the codes twice.

We also have a Tesco credit card, which we use for pretty much everything.

My husband always buys petrol at Tesco, and travels quite a bit for his job.

Thanks very much for your advice on how to holiiday in Florida :-)

    hi!
i am going to florida next year aswell and i phoned virgin via the phone number on the tesco site for a price. it is basically the brochure price that you pay. i was quoted £2230 for 18nts in florida. miami- key west and fort myers including hotel for these nts. £575.50 in clubcard vouchers.i then looked at airmiles and i would need 18900 airmiles for a return flight for 2 people which would cost £590 clubcard vouchers so for me the virgin brochure is best.this is my 3rd holiday. i save for 2 yrs then book.
    hope this helps.

just did a quick check with airmiles for jan20th you would need 12,750 airmiles and on march10th for 2 wks you would need 12,750 airmiles for 2 adults and 3 children flights only.which i thought was quite good.
  • Thank you!

I didn't realize there was a phone number on Tesco - I'll try that one :-)

Thanks for an idea of the figures too :)

looking at the virgin website it would cost roughly £2870 for all of you at the bahama bay resort 4*for 2 wks. you have to pay for the car hire separate.
  • Am I right in thinkig the online prices are the same as the brochure prices but excluding the internet discount? Or am i in for a scary shock when i call?!

I couldn't see the bahama bay listed, but probably missed it!!! There was so much choice.

Also how easy would it be to do florida without hiring a car? Say staying on International Drive? There is transport to the theme parks it says, but would it be possible to see anything else of Florida or not easily?

Another Q (sorry!) If hiring a car, what level of insurance would you recomend?

I also forgot that we'll need travel insurance, I expect I'll need to get this through Tesco because of using club card deals!?

Sorry for asking so many things.

    Any help very much appreciated.

    hi!
you don't need to take insurance with virgin but tesco recommend theirs incase you have to cancel. i took it the first time but took the chance with my own last year. you would need to hire a car to get out and about.i looked at hertz car hire quite good price or us rent a car hire. all insurance included. how did you get on? did you phone for a price? you could phone airmiles aswell for a quote
  • Hi

Yes I got a quote from Virgin - £2315 staying at quality inn, Int drive. In January :)

Cosmos don't start at florida till March, their quote was £4.4k !

You say you don't need insurance with virgin, is that because it's included? EG medical wise?

    Thanks for your help. :)
