Moving to New Supplier
Options
Im with Scottish Power and was thinking of moving to Ovo, which was my recommendation through yourselves.
One thing Im not sure about or if it has been discussed before is when your moving. I was going through the process of moving (but Ovo had computer issues and couldnt accept me) I would be charged £35  if I dont give 28 days noticeto Scottish Power (even though Ive been with Scottish Power for years).. so how does that work, can you state a date with your new supplier for the move to start.
I have been trying for ages to get through to Scottish Power to answer this question but CANT get through... their phone help is terrible, you think with the price hiking they would employ more phone people as the queue was at least an hours wait!!

You can't 'state a date', the normal switch process takes 4 to 5 weeks anyway. If you leave SP before you are out of contract then you will have to pay an ETC if that is what your contract says, if you are OOC then no penalty applies. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks macman, I have been with SP for over 10 years so I should be ok... is going to be on the move soon then !! lol0

Yes but if you started a new tariff less than a year ago with an ETC, then you may well be locked in. Don't say you have been on standard tariff for a decade? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yeah I have, was too scared to change so nothing has changed since I started with SP.
Im still really scared to change but know I have to if I want to save money0 -
But you could have gone onto any other SP tariff-what's to be scared of? Same gas and electrcity, same wires and pipes.
Standard tariff is always the most expensive, sometimes around 20% more than the cheapest online tariff. Probably not what you wanted to hear.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Im blonde and dont understand a lot of the jargon lol - I didnt know that!! now that is something else to confuse me.... thanks!! lol
Oh just realised Im on online energy saver 3.... thats what Ive always been on! is that better?0
