RBS Nice People

Back in January I opened a seperate savings account with RBS. I have since then been saving for Xmas. Over the past week I have been withdrawing money for Xmas gifts. To my surprise this morning I saw I had been charged £10.50 in charges for moving my money out. ( still in credit not overdrawn ).
I attended my local branch this morning and spoke to them asking why the charges. Turns out the terms and conditions of the account only allow three withdrawels per month. I was unaware of this / forgot about it.
The staff checked my accounts and could see they were all managed well and to my surprise they said they would refund the charges and change the type of account so no more charges would be incurred.

I know banks can be a nightmare and drive people insane but in this case they were great ( Is this too good to be true )

Happy days.

    Glad to hear it.
I think most decent banks will refund charges if they can see it is a one=off.
But beware when Santander take over next year...

OP is in Glasgow. Its only RBS branches in England, and Natwest branches in Scotland being taken over by Santander.

OP you might want to check what sort of account RBS have changed it to. It could be that you wont get the interest rate you had with the other account. Good of them to refund the charge though
Debt free and staying that way!

    Ah, yes, didn't notice.
I'm getting my account moved to Scotland.

Sounds like the Instant Savings Tracker which charges £1.50 per withdrawal on any above three per quarter.

You'd be better with a Direct Saver online.
