Peugeot 4007 owners- check you car tax band!!!!!!
I own a 4007 and have just bought a new tax disc for the first time.
I paid £129.25 for 6 months and just paid the amount on the renewal notice.
I then thought I would check the CO2 emmisions and found that I have been overcharged.
£129,.25 for 6 months means this is deemed to be a band J vehicle. This is for vehicles with CO2 emission between 186 and 200 g/km.
This vehicle actaully produces 185 g/km and should therefore be in band I for vehicles between 176 and 185 g/km.
This is confirmed by a link on DVLA's own website that the vehicle is on VED band I.
http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/search/vehicleDetails.asp?id=20022
I have emailed them asking for a refund and will let you know what response I get but it makes me think how many other 4007 owners, or any other car owner, is being scammed by the government!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers

What CO2 value is on V5? Not uncommon for makers to get them wrong- heard of models that have been given the wrong engine size.0

No problem some cars have multiple engine versions in the same year.
It is a nightmare on some models the basic specs change every 3 months so you go to look at what you think is the same car and what you think is standard are different.0 -
Some estates especially those with the roof rails are dearer than saloon/hatchbacks, Sometime low spec cars
can be in a different band compared to high spec ones, Costs more to lug all that extra weight around.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

The only thing I would say to that is that the tax is based no emmissions. My car is reported as putting out 185 g/km so is therefore in the lower band despite the age or spec?
Will let you know what I get back - I am not expecting much!

where is this reported
Acording to parkers( and you V5 by the looks of it) yours is the older 194g/km.
9 Jul 2007 – 1 Dec 2009 £129.25 £235.00-J 194
is your car newer than Dec09? (not date of reg but manufacture)
Note on your first link
Note that only current "New" models are available on this page0 -
I think they O/P needs to not jump to conclusions here.
The tax office will go by the co2 output on the tax book. Thats whats relevant to them. Its not up to them to prove what co2 output your car has.
Chances are theres been some engine spec change - happened with me and an x5 - mine was a previous engine spec, but registered the same month as the new engine spec came out.0 -
