Is there a wireless network available? This sort of thing will give you the flexibility to listen to the radio staions you choose, rather than just those the PC users have chosen in the other room as would be the case with wireless speakers (which would work).

i am actually in turkey and listen to the bbc via the net--knowing my luck the wifi radio wouldnt pick up from here to radio 2!!--it seems a good device and reasonable-how does it compare to wireless speakers?--when i ask here about wireless speakers they say they done exist! my wife has radio 2 on in the office all day so connection is not a problem.

If you have a wifi network, an internet radio will pick up the same stations as your wife's PC.

An internet radio will be able to tune into any station you want to listen to. Wireless speakers will only play what is playing on the PC they are feeding from, in this case, probably your wife's. All you would be able to control from your desk would be the volume.

Here's a link to an example of wireless speakers which apparently don't exist. ;)

You can use a smartphone eg any old Nolkia with WiFi built in, or a iPod Touch for an excellent internet radio experience. As above poster also said, do you have access to a WiFi network in your computer-less office?
