Parking Eye Ticket

I received a ticket from PE last week stating that we had left the car park in Abergavenny 16 minutes later than we should have and asking for £50 within 2 weeks (yet date was 25 Nov) or £80 if not paid by this date. I sent off an appeal stating that my hubby had returned to the car as I was queuing in a shop and knew I would be a few minutes late so that he could explain if an attendant came around. We hadn't seen anything stating that it was photographic so weren't aware of that. I have not heard anything and date is up tomorrow so not sure if I should pay my fine. Looking at response on the Forum it doesn't appear that I should, any advice please??

No, you shouldn't. It's not a fine.0

Absolutely ignore it and anything else they send you.
And smile smugly at getting one over on these cowboys.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Its a request for money. They cant fine you, or anything else they like to call it. Ignore their response which will say appeal unsuccessful and ignore all future letters.0

You have NOT been fined!! Only ever take seriously a real penalty from the Council or Police. This is a scam, just a bogus ticket and you should never have bothered to respond - but no harm done.
Read this link where the Guardian Consumer editors ask legal expert Tim Cary to comment, and he always says it is best to ignore PPC tickets (and it makes NO difference that you may have said who was driving in your 'appeal'):

Stop thinking of it like it's a real fine that will go up if you don't pay - there is no fine, it's a made up amount these scammers want you to pay. Please stop taking the bait and writing back to them. Would you reply to a series of phishing emails? No, so consider this the same sort of scam, and extortion attempt you must IGNORE.
We deal with these queries every day and everyone who ignores these fake parking tickets just gets sent debt collector letters then the whole scam stops. On the odd occasion there's a phone call or two if the debt collector can get a number for the registered keeper - but they can be told where to go as this is NOT a fine, no debt, no case to answer, no Bailiff, no Court and no CCJ.
There is so much info on the internet about private parking tickets - and this scam has been covered on Watchdog TWICE already this year - so please don't think that it's just us saying to ignore it.
Don't even think about paying or even writing to them again!
The whole MSE parking board is linked below, there are hundreds of current threads just like yours, with everyone ignoring the scammers!

Happy reading of the current threads on the board!
Linked to a sticky (permanently near the top) thread you'll find a Watchdog youtube clip on a top thread (shows Tim Cary - same Solicitor as quoted in the Guardian - making a PPC bogus ticket like yours, complete with a pretty/pointless photo of a car, into a paper aeroplane). There's also another top thread by Crabman giving you pictures of the exact letter-chain of threats that Parking Eye and their pet debt collector will send to the registered keeper before they give up:
Please stop worrying, these fake tickets are meaningless and only useful as paper aeroplanes. Nothing happens to your credit rating and 99.9% of PPCs don't do Court, only mail threats, because those that have tried Court in the past have lost almost every time. Loads of people on here have collected and ignored tickets from Parking Eye, you'll see other threads just like yours.
Don't believe the 'threatogram' letters, relax and tell your husband, friends & family about this scam!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
