Ripped off by BT with Line Rental Saver?

Hi,

I got myself Line Rental Saver at 9.99 a month ago but I feel like I ended up paying more.

Let me explain:

Previously, with all discounts, I'd pay 12.75 per month rental with inclusive evening and weekend calls.

Now, I'm paying 9.99 a month with Line Rental Saver and have to pay an additional 2.99 for evening and weekend calls which for some reason are no longer inclusive (i.e. free). I was told that I had to have a package and that was the cheapest they offered me (even though I now see they offer weekend only for free now?!)

So that adds up to 12.98 in total compared to 12.75.

Is that a mistake that I am being charged for weekend and evening calls which used to be free or did I get shafted by BT, by buying into Line Rental Saver? The sales person on the phone assured me that the calling plan would be 2.99 and inclusive (free as before).

I called billing support (based in India it seems) yesterday and they said nothing was wrong and they couldn't change the calling plan to the currently free weekend-only plan without cancelling (without refund of course) the whole line rental saver.

If you apply online for Line Rental Saver, you then choose the package such as Free weekend calls, if you like it is a layer on top. That's all I know.

When I applied for Line Rental Saver, I was given a choice of different packages, and the free weekend calls was ther only package which came with no extra charges and for which the line rental would not be renewed automatically after the year expires.
It was pretty clear to me, but saying that they have a tendency to not advertised too much the fact that you can get line rental saver with the free weekend calls package.

    The BT website says, here:
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=30390
that you pay £9.99 x 12 in one upfront card payment, and separately choose either evening and weekend calls at £0 per month, or anytime at £4.99 a month.
The £2.99 is either a special and temporary bad offer that the call centre conned you into, or (more likely) a mistake.
