Cats outside in Winter?
Comments

I think it depends what they're used to, if they haven't had to cope in such low temperatures before then I think they'll be too cold
I will confess that when it's really cold I go to work and leave the heating on for my cats as they're not used to such low temperatures and I feel so sorry for them when I stroke their fur and it's cold
Is there no way you could put a second cat flap in the door to the kitchen so they could still get outside but could also get back into the main house?
If that's not possible then how about a snugglesafe (solid disc thingy that you heat in the microwave for 6 mins that stays hot for hours) http://www.vetuk.co.uk/cat-accessories-cat-heat-pads-covers-c-626_325/snugglesafe-microwaveable-heat-pad-cover-p-250 or an electric heated bed?0 -

Funnily enough I was looking at them on Ebay earlier and really think it may be an option. Thanks.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -

The inside kitchen door is completely glass except for the edges which isn't big enough to get a flap onto the wood. Thanks for the recommendation of the heat pads, I didn't realise they lasted as long as that. I think I'll buy one to see if they'll use it and if they do, buy another one. I'll just have to hide them from my OH as he thinks I'm mollycoddling them :rotfl:. Says him who's got one of them in the bed with him now  cos it's too cold downstairs at night.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0
