Air France rant

Hi Guys,

Just want to give you all a heads up about Air France's customer service.

A couple of weeks ago I was flying back from Goa, via Paris.

The flight from Paris, home to Aberdeen was overbooked, and they were announcing that they were looking for volunteers to go home on the next flight. They were offering anyone willing to change to the later flight 250 euro compensation.

As my flight was already delayed, it was only an extra 3 hours wait, I volunteered to be put on the later flight. I got given two vouchers, one for a meal in the airport, and one for the 250 euro. I had the meal in the airport, which was very nice, and when I got home I phoned the number on the other voucher (20 minute phonecall after going through all the menu's) to claim back my 250, but was told that they 'do not recognise' the voucher I was given. The lady gave me an email address to send her a scan of the voucher and even though I checked and double-checked the email address with her.. it doesn't work! It was the tone of the phonecall that was awful.. she kept on asking me where I got the voucher in a condescending tone like I was a criminal or something. I feel a complete pillock for getting scammed like this :(

Warning to all!

  • could it have been the size of the scanned (attachment?) that was the problem?

Have you phoned them back to advise them of your problems in sending it to them?

Sounds more like an error than a scam, and as you actually get responses from people, it's a much better customer service than most airlines. If you can't email them the voucher, have you tried photocopying it and sending it in the post, as perhaps the attachment caused it to get blocked?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I spent half of my lunch hour navigating the menu's on their phoneline again.. the lady still seemed to automatically assume I had forged the voucher or something.. 10 minutes of questions about where I got it, and even a description of the person that gave it to me etc. I understand that there are administrative errors and suchlike, but its the rudeness and tone of the customer service folk that seems to be off.. I was given another e-mail address (completely different to the 1st) so awaiting a reply. Attachment was only 600k so should be small enough.
