John Lewis

Hey Guys

I never often complain to companys unless I think the service I get is really poor but I think this is below standard.

I ordered a Tumble Dryer from John Lewis which was £215 and a Washing Machine which was £249 which was fine the tumble dryer was on special at £215. Now today my mother (who stays with me.) calls me and said our JL account is frozen for fraud ??. So I contact JL asking why ?? they sayits because our old address does not match our new on. We the explained that we have moved and we told JL and as proof we have a letter from JL clarifying this.

So we have been without a Washing machine and Tumble dryer for about 10 days since order. We have been told to get the appliances before friday it would cost us £19.95 Express delivery and a extra £30 for the tumble dryer due to there error in delivery. What should I do I ordered the Tumble dryer when it was £215 not £245 so they are giving me a penalty when I updated their records of my house move.

We need a WM & TD asap it should have been here today.

I find this unacceptable any advice guys ?

cheers

Collect the things yourself, is one option.

Cancel the order and go elsewhere.

Wait patiently and take advantage of their free delivery service.

In my experience, JL only deliver to my area once a week. So there will always be a delay.

If ordered from the website, the items could be delivered on any day. If ordered from store, I would agree that they will usually only deliver on one day of the week.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Im more annoyed with the £30 extra charge because the tumble dryer is now out of the sale and back to full price even though I ordered it when it was on sale. Seems Strange.

Contact JL customer service. There have been a number of reports on here from people who contacted CS and got the original price. One person got a £1200 TV for £800!
  • I would cancel the order and write a strong-worded letter to head office stating how disappointed (the polite word :P) you are with how things have been handled.
Or call them to say this - they may do a good-will gesture?

You can get good quality WM and TD for less than John Lewis prices, so have a look around..
  • Cheers guys.
I just sent an email asking could they deliver the appliances on the express delivery at the price I purchased them last week. I also pointed out if this was an issue why did they not call me to tell me instead of me wasting a whole day waiting for them to come.

Is the "account" a partnership card? Because (I know this is for some reason very hard for people to understand :wall:) that is a credit card and is no way related to your delivery address on the delivery system. HSBC (I think it's them) run the partnerhip card and if you changed your address, you need to change your billing address with the card issuer.

It's like if I changed my Play.com delivery address and expected that to cut across to my bank debit card. Of course it wouldn't.

Just bumping to see if OP has an answer...
  • I do actually.

I emailed them last night and they responded last night, They are hounoring the price and giving free express delivery. I now have my WM & Tumble :D They were very prompt in there reply quite impressed with the very little hassle. I would be fighting next week still if it was tesco.

    Well Done JL.
