How many copies of marriage certificate?

Hey all

I'm getting married soon  and will be taking H2B's surname.

I know I'll need original marriage certificates to change my name at certain places (eg DVLA) and would like to get these on the day of the wedding so we pay less for them :money:

How many have others in my situation found they needed? Is five loads more than we'll need (bearing in mind some may not get returned, may get lost etc)?

Suze

From my experience the first time round... i only needed one. I took it into the banks with me and the DVLA posted it back to me. I'll only be getting one this time too.
saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.

I'm getting two, but only just incase anything goes wrong with the "original" as one will be stored in a box with the rest of my wedding stuff

  • We get one included in our registrars fee and then we have paid an additional 3.50 for a second certificate for my mum as she does family history and collects wedding certificates. It is cheaper for her to get one now than to order one in the future.

We got our original free and paid £3.50 for an extra copy, which was posted out to us.

2 is plenty I think but if you want more, obviously you can get more x

I was only going to get one :o Who else requires you to send off the original when you change your name? I don't have a driving licence so that wouldn't be an issue ;)

I'm going to get 2 as OH lost his original birth certificate & had to get a new one so I think it would be sensible to have a spare marriage certificate too! :)
