Incapacity Benefit & Medical Evidence

I'd like to know how often IB write to the GP for medical evidence. Is it something they do at regular intervals? Would I know that they've written to them? I've been on long term IB for 3ish years and am only aware of them writing to the GP once (after the initial 28wks). I see the mental health team regularly but don't like going to my GPs (find them very difficult to open up to) and I worry that they will kick me off IB just because the GP doesn't know what's going on with my condition.

They'll tell you if they're going to write to your doctor so I wouldn't worry about it.

What makes you think that is the case?
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

The letters I have with regards to ESA and DLA say that I'll be informed if they were writing to my specialist for further information. And so far I have been informed when they've written to my specialists. I know it's not IB but I presume the rules are generally similar.

Whenever my gp would get a request for info from DWP they would always contact me to ask me to make an appointment to see them so they could go over what my limitations were due to my illness. Like you my mental health is managed by CHMHT & never go to the gp unless I believe I had something serious wrong with me (rubbish gp so have to be desperate to go there).

You could write to your gp & ask that they notify you if they receive a request for medical info from DWP.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
