British Gas Essentials
Options
Hi
I am asking on behalf of my sister who is registered disabled. She has certain disability benefits. I have phoned British Gas as she is on a standard tarrif.
All I wanted to know was how much she would save by going on to the Essentials Tarrif which she qualifies for. I couldn't get a straight answer and thought one of you could help.
Is Essentials the cheapest is basically what I'm asking or should we shop around.
Thanks in advance

This is all that I could find on their tariff section.
It also said that they will contact you with the price.
"As a vulnerable customer your prices will not increase until 1st April 2011. And even when they do change, the good news is that you'll pay no more for your fuel on average than our lowest standard prices."
I am waiting to be switched onto this tariff and I was informed that I had to wait until my connection date and then ring the designated number.
I'm sure I've got this somewhere and will post it as soon as I can lay my hands on it.
She also said that the eligibility criteria changes occasionally but it has stayed the same for quite some time apparently.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

I think it is wrong for all other BG customers to subsidise others who are on a social tariff. Look around search for the cheapest deal to your sisters needs. social tariffs are not the cheapest. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0

Currently there is a price difference of 19 % Electric and 9% Gas from the Standard Tariff. The price difference will increase by 7% on 10 December 2010 when BG raise their prices. In April it will revert back to the original price difference. This is so that Essential customers do not have the price going up till after the Winter.
Of course if people also take up the Free insulation and Energy products they can save a lot more than the lower tariff.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -

The above quote from British Gas does not say it will revert back to original price difference0
