Grrr Buyers backing out.

Why do people bid on things in the last thirty seconds of an auction and then email an hour later saying sorry mate bid on yours by mistake.

I have been on to ebay and given a second chance offer, but I bet the under bidder thinks that something fishy is going on (and I wouldn't blame them either).

Why just WHY, and, since I go away on Monday for four months (hence the sale) can only mutually cancel and due to the silly rules can't leave -ve feedback:mad:

  • You can file a npb after day four and then four days later give him a strike, far more damaging than a mutual, which he could disagree with.

If you cannot get online whilst you are away, get someone you trust to go on and do it.

Tbh leaving yourself a few days is not adequate in eBay world.
  • I needed said item until today, which is why I couldn't sell before then, and there is no point in it sitting gathering rust for four months. (it's a car incidentally), and the 5 days to Sunday should be enough time to get rid of it.

With 4 days to pay and all the paperwork you need to do to legally pass ownership over to a buyer I personally would have sold earlier.

How are you going to get all the paperwork done, and what happens now if your original buyer declines to do a mutual and you have two ltos of fees to pay?

  • Fortunately the buyer has agreed to do a mutual cancellation, as long as I can sign the paperwork, it could be collected and the forms posted over the weekend, as far as cancelling the insurance goes, my wife has a general power of attorney lodge with all people we have financial dealings with.
Maybe four days was a bit tight, but I don't fly until Monday, the car isn't worth much so much just give a certain company with annoying adverts a call, thats if the second chance doesn't happen.

Thanks for your advice and thoughts guys, it's much appreciated.
