Java PS3 Media Server....problem

Options
After the advice of a fellow moneysaver i ditched tversity (mainly cos i cant get it to work) for ps3 media server.

When i used tversity i would play a movie and 3 seconds later it would start. Smoothly all the way through the movie. Now for some odd reason, using PS3 media server - it plays a second, pauses for 5, plays again for a second then pauses again etc etc etc.

In the status box where it says Transcoding buffer status : current birate is 327kb/s and peak birate is 3604 kb/s

in blue under transcoding buffer status the blue bar is almost at the end. In the bar it says 399747391 bytes.

I have no idea what this means. I think it means current birate is how much its sending to the ps3 per second, blue bar, what has already been sent over . But can u actually watch a movie in full? So far im 1 minute into the movie and its taken me 13 minutes :(
