DVLA and personal documentation
I submitted an application to the DVLA to convert my South African drivers licence. It was signed for by their Swansea medical office on the 3rd of November.
I submitted it along with my proof of SA licence, British passport number, original marriage certificate and one of their medical questionnaires.
It was sent directly to the medical team with this information as suggested by the motability scheme-when I applied for my motability vehicle. As I didn't need any adaptions (I have cerebral palsy-left hemiplegia so I can manage with an automatic).
That was 3 weeks ago and they still dont have my application "on the system". They can tell me that my application was signed for, they cannot tell me where my documentation is (other than "somewhere in a pile of thousands of envelopes that are opened and processed in date order")they can't even tell what documentation I put in the envelope. Thankfully because I am a british citizen,I didnt
need to submit my passport-but if I weren't I would still without my passport.
Each time I call to enquire the move the goal posts-first it would be "on the system" within a week-then two-then three-today I was told 5 weeks. If my documentation does get lost I am not going to be able to replace my SA license card-which apparently DVLA send back to SA before issueing a GB licence.
What do I do? Where do I stand at least regarding my personal documentation?
