Budget will add 0.29% to CPI, 0.37% to RPI, on top of VAT rise.

With virtually all of that coming from fags & booze.

Cutting down on these will give people much longer to enjoy their pension.

Take out this effect and you're back to the 0.7% - 0.8% many other experts are predicting.

This thread has gone quiet. I see the signature count for the EDM is 127.

Any news on this or the legal challenge?

    Goldwing1 and all,
I have some information on the legal challenge but have delayed publishing it because I have rasied a couple of points I need clarifying before I quote them on the forum. I will do so as soon as I get a definitive answer to my questions.

As you say 125 MP's have signed the EDM and to that end I have emailed the originator to ascertain what happends next especially with the two new EDM's 1629 and 1625. I am still waiting a reply, hopefully by early next week I will able to publish the latest position.

The judicial review by the CSPA, OPA, NFOP etc is being considered and there is a big possiblity that it will be enacted upon I believe, again watch this space.

Finally, the next date for action is May 5th, the local elections. This is a great way to let your feelings be known. Though I would normally not advocate using local elections to send a National message, it's too good an opportunity to be missed. If we fail to take it, then we may live to regret it.

    regards

    Aberdeenangarse.

Please do not post an original quote in green and edit it with your own words in red, it can not be a quote once you alter the original wording.

Please also note I did not give any reference to any political party in my original post, this is not a party political issue. Its an issue between right and wrong and changing the indexing inflation rate specifically for pensioners like this is the issue.

Unfortunately sometimes the only way to get Governments to take notice is to send the Government of the day a message they understand, using the ballot box is a legitimate method, irrespective of the Governments political make up.

You are quite correct Ripoff, the Pension Pirates will not listen to reason, only the ballot box will influence their determination for Cutting Pensioners Income.

I believe there is but not privy to ALL that is happening.

The recess of parliament will delay matters I suspect and I see the CSPA have updated their webpage on this. As I have indicated the Local Elections are the next BIG opportunity and as with the NHS , Forests, Housing Benefit etc they need to STOP and re-think this RPI to CPI issue.

It's going to cause more anguish and pain than they realise, or perhaps they do realise and just don't care about us! I will let you be the judge of that on May 5th!

This Country seems to have two inflation rates now, one that Business and the City they use (RPI) and one that the people and pensioners who have been forced onto the lesser CPI indexing by this Coalition Government. Don't forget that Tax Allowances for all are being indexed to CPI next year. How can this Government insist that CPI is the country's inflation rate when business and the city don't even use it? SEE LINK BELOW:

This link really is the proof that the City regard RPI as the true inflation rate else why would they be asking for RPI indexed linked bonds if RPI goes above 6%.

BT and Tesco are already providing RPI indexed bonds but in BT's case they offer their pensioners the lesser CPI increases.
