chris1804, I think the kind posters on this thread would be much happier once you've explained how you've taken some steps to try and fix the problem yourself before trying to make the council spend thousands of pounds on new windows?

I expect you've already tried all the basic draught-proofing steps which any house owner or renter would usually do, before giving up and calling out an expensive company (in this case the generous council) to fix it?

My sash windows (and the non-sash ones as well) were very draughty (an inch gap in one case!), but ten minutes later the draughts were stopped and it's invisible. Maybe your windows are much more complicated.

Some people would rather freeze than make an effort to help themselves be more comfortable. I just don't get it! Whatever happened to self reliance.
Even if the council said that they would do something there is absolutely no guarantee that the job could be funded before the cold weather comes to an end.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
