Found a dog..

I found a lovely little Yorkie girl wondering around in my street today. She almost got hit by a van right before I scooped her up.

Anyway, went knocking on doors and eventually found the owner.

Owner turns out to be an undesirable who appears to be using poor little yorkie girl as a breeding machine. Also, as their garden is diagonally behind mine, I can hear the dog out there barking all day every day.

I feel dreadful now, I wish I'd kept her :( poor little thing.
If she escapes again and i happen to find her, I may be tempted to

Unless she leaves the house in disguise, it'll only be a matter of time before the current owner spots her and they may hear her barking in your garden :p.

I hope the owner was grateful to you for bringing his/her dog home.

There was a period of about 2 years where I kept coming across stray dogs. It happened so much that I was nicknamed the dog lady by friends & family. If the dog had a collar, I would ring the number engraved on it and if it didn't I would hold on to the dog whilst phoning all the vets in the area. None of the owners, except one, appeared pleased to be re-united with their dog :( and they seemed to think that they were doing me a favour by the taking the dog back.

I know, I'd have to dye her a different colour lol

He was so unbothered by having her back. Couldnt give a toss and hadnt even noticed she'd gone. Just makes me feel really sad.

It's heart-breaking when you meet owners like this. Apart from dog-napping her and then perhaps shaving her and pretending she's a chinese crested dragon dog or something, there's not a lot you can do.

However if you are at all concerned about her well-being then call the RSPCA, they may not be the most effective organisation but they are all we have. If she is constantly barking, you can also try local dog warden and enviromental health teams.

If the dogs are being given adequate food, water and shelter then unfortunately the welfare angle mightn't interest the RSPCA much.

Unfortunately the dog warden can do nothing as he doesn't have right of entry into a person's home or garden and can only observe from public property. His interest will be along the lines of fouling, dangerous dogs etc rather than the dog's welfare.

I would imagine however that Environmental Health would be able to point you in the right direction to get something done about this person. If you report the man as breeding dogs illegally and therefore not paying tax on the money he makes then the authorities would take an interest.
