We are hopefully completing next Friday.
As far as moving out is concerned, are we given any time in which to do this. I am getting a van and relatives to help us. The move is only approx 3 miles. I'm assuming that I'll be expected to be out in the one trip ie pack the van, get a call off sols then hand my keys over. Is this right? I'm anxious that all our stuff won't fit in the van and that's why we're spending this weekend offloading non-essentials in relatives spare rooms. It would be great if we had the opportunity of two trips even if it were only to fill the car twice

You can't officially complete until the money transfers via the solicitors. In all my moves it hasn't happened before mid day. In any case, your buyers can't get the keys from the EA till you've handed them in so you have time for 2 trips if you get organised the night before. It's really bad manners if you're still loading the van 5 hours after completion when your buyers are sitting outside on a freezing day with a car full of screaming, tired children (yes-I have been in that car) but what can they really do about it that won't further delay your leaving?
Good luck with your move.0 -
Hey Bluelad - been keeping an eye out to see your progress!! Glad you've exchanged and ready to complete. We are still waiting on a few "t's to be crossed" before contracts ready. Hopefully gonna sign next week. I have to say I am never moving again after this. V.stressful. Good luck. x0

If you have exchanged contracts you can try to set up an informal agreement with your vendors to allow you to move some stuff in, either from early that morning, or maybe they could clear out a room for you to put stuff in beforehand.
Bear in mind, your solicitor will advise against it. I think it really depends on how much you've spoken to these people and much trust there is in the chain. Things aren't likely to go wrong if the solicitors have done their jobs properly.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If you aim to be totally cleared out by 12 noon and not expect to be getting the keys to the new place before about 4pm you will not be far out. Just don’t get all packed up and out by 9 am then expect to pick up the keys to the new place by 10. It doesn’t work like that.0

Thanks for all the replies.
There's only 3 in chain and the house we're going to is virtually empty already(was there this week). I'm more concerned about holding up our buyer but I'm sure we'll be ok.
Cuffie,
Good luck to you too!. Hasn't been so bad since 1st buyer dropped out. New offer to moving will turn out about 8 weeks. Don't think I can complain too much though solicitors profession does seem exempt from Customer care. I'll be significantlyhappier this Friday....all being well0
