Select bank

Got a loooong phone call today from someone from Select bank offering to open a bank a/c for me online. The details, terms etc looked good and I was having such lousy returns from my own bank (The Northern) that I had been thinking of changing anyway. They set up an a/c and I have two weeks to cancel if not happy with the conditions etc in the welcome pack.
Has anyone heard of them or know anything about them. With my own bank I have a current a/c which I earn nothing for always being in credit on, a savings a/c which is rubbish interest and an ISA which is also rubbish interest. Should I give Select bank a go or is there somewhere better than I can bank online and also use their bank card when travelling abroad. Can anyone help?

1. Did they cold call you? If so how did they get your phone number?
2. Why did you not find out about them before you gave them your details to open the account?
3. Have you checked them out with the FSA (look up on this sight)?
4. Are they covered by the FSCS scheme at the FSA?
If you did not already know them, it was foolish not to had done points 3 & 4 first!

If you have given them your personal or current bank details I'd be very concerned indeed. Keep a close eye for any unfamiliar credit applications using your details.
There's a blog entry here relating to a Select Bank which makes worrying reading, obviously it may not be the same one.0 -
Silly.....silly....silly you....so any Bob & Harry calls you and you open a bank account with them over the phone....have you given them your current account details...of so likely that they will empty it....0
