Big Fat WARNING about credit cards

Yup, just like I said0 -
It's quite an easy mistake to make when dealing with recurring payments.
Perhaps.
But when you make a mistake you have to accept it and learn from it and not blame everyone else (which in an extreme case could result in slander/libel).
It's very easy to go over 30mph in your car in a 30 zone, but it's still illegal and you have to accept your "bang to rights" if you get caught.
I am glad the OP is helping others, but they will help themselves in future if they accept that they made a mistake because that way they can learn from it.0 -
Good
I'm glad the comments have caused them to change their view even if they appeared unsympathetic.0 -

Agree ... to a point. The comments before his second post were perhaps a reality check. However, I think carrying on the unpleasantness after the mistake had been admitted was unnecessary.0 -

My reply in post #23 was in reply a comment by fiddlestick and not the OP.
I think people are entitled to discuss the points to be learnt from it if they wish provided it's polite and I am not aware of my language being unpleasant. Anyone that doesn't like the tone of the thread can leave if they like, but I'm not aware of my language or tone being unpleasant. Unsympathetic - yes definitely.0 -

Some of us genuinely believe there are things to be highlighted and learned from the exerience although I agree it should not be made unpleasant.

I see nothing wrong in your posts and agree that some rebuking does (sometimes) help people realise their mistakes.
What is not constructive is posts (not yours) such as: All your fault....accept your mistake...pay it and learn from it...
made shortly after someone has acknowledged they made a mistake. It doesn't contribute constructively to the discussion, doesn't offer any decent advice, and just creates a bad atmosphere.
There's a big difference between helping someone realise their error, and just being obnoxious after they have.0 -

Whilst I agree with what you say, the main problem I see is the OP still states:willniznos wrote: »I believe that any other person could make the mistakes that I have. And the CC company in this case just viewed me as a date on a statement, when a glance at my payments would show that I was diligently paying off a significant chunk on a regular basis. The way I was penalised seems so disproportionate.
It's as if they are still not wholly accepting their responsibility to read the T&Cs and statements. Almost everything is automated and computers operate to the rules they are given. They see statement dates, payment due dates and the dates that payments are made. They don't make judgement calls such as the OP seems to be expecting.
Banks (like most other businesses) are generally unsympathetic to their customers and operate rigidly within their T&Cs of business. The OP still needs to recognise that making haphazard payments doesn't constitute abiding to the credit agreement they have signed but apparently not read or understood. My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
They are not a substitute for professional financial advice - but you knew that already didn't you?VSP 2011 - Member #25 - Started 6th December 2010 - Total As Of 4th May 2011 (21 weeks in!) - £323.67/£500 - So far so good!0 -
Credit Card companies are like anyone else whos in buisness, And thats to make money, However i find most CC Companies to be quite firm when filtering through potential Applicants, I've been declined for a few cards past and present, However i guess like me when you sign a contract and dont honour it after a while, Its easy enough to blame the CC company instead of blaming your self when the defaults start rolling in.' You only live once ! Don't live to regret the past, But to enjoy the future '
