Abandoned Kitty

Just wanted to get some advice on this one.

DH went and picked up a cat that was "free to good home" last night. In a nutshell the cat was living with the current tenants of a property, but had been abandoned (with a kitten) by the previous tenants who were evicted.

Now the current tenants were unable to keep her as they both work away for long periods of time - they have had her for about 2 weeks, but needed to get rid of her and they were just going to take her to the RSPCA centre and leave her there.

The kitten has already long gone to someone else, but we get the impression that Mum and kitten were separated too soon. Mum is still producing milk.

Before we introduce her to our current cat Timmy, we want to make sure she has been completely checked over.

We have booked her an appointment with the vet to be checked out, wormed and de-flea'd, and vaccinated. We are also going to book her in to be spayed and looking into getting her microchipped too.

I don't mind paying out for her as we have decided to keep her regardless of cost, but are there any agencies that can help with this sort of thing?

We have contacted RSPCA and Cats Protection and both have said they would only help us if we were on benefits.

DH has said he will give up all of his Christmas presents just to make sure the cat (now called Rosie) is sorted.

Ahhh, well done to you both.
Sometimes local authorities have micro chipping camapigns. Might be worth asking

I don't know if anyone can help, but well done for taking Rosie in. :A I'm sure she'll bring you lots of love and happiness. Hope she and Timmy get on OK. My cats don't always get on that well but always get used to each other.

Thank you both, she seems quite settled at the moment and loves attention. I don't think she is very old as had a look at her teeth and they are tiny. Will try to post a picture at some point
