Kids waterproof/puddle suits

Hi

Want to get my 19 month old an all in one waterproof suit this weekend. Have seen two sorts, one with thermal fleece linings ( I assume to wear normal clothes under) and others with no lining so you would wear a jacket underneath. Just wondering if I should buy aged 2-3 in order to fit a winter jacker underneath? Don't want to waste money and buy the wrong sort. I may be ordering off ebay and think there is a no return policy.

Thanks

I got my grandaughter the trespass kids rain suit last year and it was great and it will fit her again this year. Her mum didnt want one to keep her warm as she was already warm with her winter clothes on. She wanted one to keep her clean and dry. If your dry then your warm. My grandaughter rolled in the snow and everything with it and never got cold of wet.

Size wise you need to go by the childs height. age 2 in trespass is 92cm height but age 3-4 is 104 cm in height.

So check which ever brand you buy the sizing in height:T
  • I would always buy a size larger, you can always roll the legs and arms up, means you get an extra year out of it and be able to fit a warm coat underneath. I have used the all in one suits and are great. This year though I've bought seperate jacket and trousers, its makes it easier now they are both out of nappies and the seperates can be used for exactly that. A afternoon in the park with just the trousers means they don't get wet bottoms but don't need to be completely togged up!

For the 19m old though, the all in ones are great. Used them last winter and would still be using them now if i hadn't got a great deal on ebay!

I would just go waterproof and not have the fleece bit. We use these suits for my little girl and find she gets quite warm in them.
We bought ours from mothercare and we have also have one from Debenhams. My daughter is quite tall so we always go one size up. She is 2 and we have the 3-4yr mothercare one.

  • We have a regatta all in one, my son is 18mths old and he has a age 2-3 coat which fits great slightly too long on the sleeves but I just turn it over once, under he has a jumper jeans and a vest as normal...I have a snowsuit as well but he finds that restricting when he's walking and gets grumpy...lol
  • I got these for my son: http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+Rainwear-Accessories-Pack-away-Waterproof-Dungarees+B2378

he was about 18months old when I got them and I got size 3-4 I think. They are fine too big.

I would go for this sort because they have more uses and last longer than snow suits. My son has worn them over layers of winter clothes with a winter coat over the top in snow, he has worn them with light layers & a rain coat in wet weather, with just a t-shirt under to jump in summer muddy puddles, with a hoddy over the top on autumn muddy walks, he also recently wore them on a cold afternoon on a beach! You get the idea !! - they come out a lot!

Oh and they are great because they are over their clothes, it is easy to strip them off to get in the car, buggy etc so you don't get them muddy. They also wash well/ easy and they don't seem to make him sweat like some water proofs can. They are made of a nice thin waterproof material.

Have fun in the puddles! I have got myself a pair of wellies so I can join in the fun!!
