The best cat litter?

What do people use? I find they don't live up to their claims of clumping and odourless, and don't really want to waste any more money trying different brands. Catsan is the worst..........help please.......
thanks murph

Well I was just going to say that catsan is the best! We use the catsan smart pack, which has a liner and drawstring in it. No smell, no mess.

I always found wooden litter smelled more, and sawdust managed to creep everywhere. The clay stuff is like cement once they've weed in it!

in the past we used a crystal like formula cat litter from wilkinsons...it was very effective and did last about a month before it needed changing...about £4.00 per bag...sorry cant recall the name but it is in a blue bag and the litter is like little white crystals.

just looked on website..its called city cat £3.99 for a 3.8kg bag
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend

Moonlight clumping. It really clumps....the widdles look a little like weetabix when you remove them, and because they are so clean and dry with regular scooping you rarely need to change the litter. Our two siams use about a bag a month between them, so though the price is high it works out well over time. I remove clumps and lumps daily or twice daily.

I buy sainsburys own make clumping litter. It really does clump and keeps the tray smell free too. An 8l bag is £1.64 (just gone up 14p in the past week:eek:) but this lasts me at least a fortnight.
  • lostinrates where do you buy it from?

I'm using Sainsburys own at the moment and all my cat does is spread it round the kitchen, presumably because the smell is still there; I've used better (not personally!!).

Now, that IS harder, its not very easy to find. zooplus do it (another MSEer told me that, I've been trekking miles to buy it) Pets at home do not sell it, but I've just had a google and it can be got more cheaply. Because I'm happy with it personally next time I'll buy in bulk to save on postage.

If you want to google for something local try ''Pura Moonlight Clumping litter''. I use it with a hooded tray and get either scent - the choices are lavender or baby powder (I'm not fussed so long as it doesn't smell of cat piddle!)
  • After trying them all, I found that the wood/sawdust pellet one to be the best.

Even better, my cat now does in the garden!

Another vote for the crystals - they are superb at containing smells, poo gets totally dehydrated, so it's clean and easy to scoop out, and it lasts for weeks. It worked out cheaper for our cat than supermarket value brands because it lasted so much longer.
  • There is a wilkinsons in town so I'll try the Crystals next, thanks all.
