Thanks in advance....
no, as she gets over 60% in her own right. If she had less than 60% then it could be made up to the 60%0 -
My spouse only has around 13 years worth of NI contributions. Up until April 2010 she had never signed-on (my redundancy caused her to do this). Since then, she has signed-off as she has had a p/t job which has now ended. She is refusing to sign-on again as she finds the Jobcentre a depressing place. As she is 50 next April, will she still get a full state pension ?.Never Knowingly Understood.

if she does not have the full 30 years contributions then she will not get the full state pension, she would only get a pension based on the 13 years she currently has, she would be able to claim against your pension BUT only when you are both classed as state pension age and this would only be up to 60% of your basic pension. some have stated that some people are registering as self employed and paying the class 2 stamp to help with their contributions or other option is paying voluntary contributions0 -

my mum has a shortfall of 6 years in NI contributions. She has not worked for the past 5 years at all due to a disability -she gets dla and my dad gets carers allowance for her. His NI is thus protected through the carers allowance. However, hers is not. She has rang the pensions office and explained circumstances and they never mentioned whether her NI should be protected or not. This seems to be rather unfair to me as it is not her fault she is unable to work. Because my dad is the carer, he claims benefits also for them both as a couple. Does anyone know if her NI should be protected? Thanks.0

I had a letter years ago saying if I paid £1k+ I'd qualify. At the time I couldn't afford it.
Some time later, having come into a bit of money, I rang up Pensions & asked what was best to do. They sent me the usual multi-page form but, before it arrived, I'd already been told that by the time I got to retirement age (the date gets further away every time I look) there would be nothing left in the pot - so not to bother.
Given this was several years ago, it seems the advice I had was right0 -
The pot is how much the current generation can be taxed to pay for pensions for those who are retired. It only runs out if we run out of people of working age. Not likely to happen.0
