Never mind spiders - why do pepole have dangerous dogs like Rottweilers and Bull Terriers as pets?
One of these attacked my friend's dog who was just sitting under the table minding her own business and it's owner could not control it on his own, other people needed to help. It could have been a child it attacked.
Another friend has a Rottweiler and it would not let me in her house, even when she was with me!
Don't tell me they're all 'soft as brushes' really- soft dogs do not attack other dogs or disobey their owners.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
More to the point, why do people keep any kind of pet when they don't have the first idea how to look after them, or even how long they are supposed to live?still a SF nerd no.1:o

It's often dependent on training - rottweilers may have breed traits, but not all are vicious brutes. A lot of dog owners are clueless, but some dogs especially need experienced owners.0 -
The problem is Rottweilers and Bull Terriers are being kept as fashion accessories. By people dumber than the animal their walking. You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

Ah. Just remembered this thread. That explains the crazy, beetle filled dream I had last night.

Everywhere I went, people were pointing out large beetles. I went to my grandpa's house (he's no longer with us but he was there, pointing out his favourite one) and there were beetles on the fireplace, his wife gave me a present, and it was a beetle in a box. My son had beetle toys. Some of the beetles were in alien form.

They were in the beds and I couldn't go to sleep incase they crawled in my mouth.
No one else was in the least bit phased by them. It wasn't like there was a sea of them, but they were just all around, like it was normal.:rotfl: Okay, I may have 'issues'. I have odd dreams!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

They're the ones where I put him in a shopping basket and leave the store forgetting what I've done with him. Or someone gives me a puppy to look after and I forget to close the door and he runs off...squirreltufty wrote:hmmm ... a sproglet-related dream I wonder?
