Train to London - never again

Yeovil Junction - but how did you find the off peak day return ?
When I put the details in to Trainlines website - It only gave me the option of either full price both ways or half price both ways (if we were willing to return after 7pm - which was too late)
Fifth line down from the top on the search I've just done - in the return tickets section. You are not committing to trains when buying such a ticket - it's valid on any train with a dot against it.
If you ask for an open return it still shows it but doesn't show the return trains which if you don't know the rules for Waterloo is not helpful admittedly
Don't use thetrainline BTW - they charge fees which other sites don't0 -

I am guessing that I saw this and was put off by :
"Not valid in the early mornings for travel to London, and often not valid in the late afternoon for return from London. You can travel on any valid train without reserving and can change your mind about when you travel even if you have reserved"
Which, to me looks like they are invalid on trains returning home between 4 pm and 7 pm ?0 -

It's a generic statement, true for most London terminals but not Waterloo. (It does say 'often' as well.) It doesn't relate to your particular ticket, just London tickets in general
Hope it's all now clear - or as clear as it can be:)0 -
