Damp If you remove the skirting board you will find that the plaster is right down to the floor. If you remome 50mm on each side of the wall this will dry out after a few weeks, Plasterers seem to defeat the object of the damp coarse, by bridging the damp coarse its self0

Thanks tordean
I removed the skirting boards six months ago & on the dividing wall cut in a pvc membrain yet the wall is still showing signs of damp for the last 2 weeks I have had the new central heating on also I have removed the render on one side of the dividing wall there is some improvement in the damp I feel it could be because the house was empty for quite some time no heating possibly condensation very pourous bricks possibly sub-standard render or possibly the injection process was not performed correctly. I am still not sure why there was so much retained moisture
If anyone has had simmilar problems I would be glad to hear how you fixed the problem.

Is your house 1 or 2 story, does the wall run up to a chimney. Have had a couple of old houses, damp can travel and appear where you least expect, don't always assume the damp is travelling upwards (in fact if you have an old house dont assume anything). Also check for pipes nearby, a pin !!!!! in the pipe wont be readily visible but will spray a fine mist into the plaster.0

The house is 3 story terraced no pipes anywhere near the damp walls both chimney walls have damp0

Two things spring to mind. Flashing or pointing gone on the chimney stack which allows water in or if the chimney's have been capped without leaving an air vent you will get condensation which will probably come through the walls0

Thanks montrose5
was my first thought 1 chimney stack was repointed back in february other looks fine both are still in use not capped.
Is it possible the next door neighbour does not have a damp course and the damp course my sde has been breeched ?
If that been the case the neighbours cant afford a damp course can anyone surgest any other remedy.0 -
Is the wall brick or breeze block?Brick partition walls normally have a partition so shouldn't affect you. Easiest thing is see if your neighbour has damp in the same spot. Check your damp warranty for conditions in the small print, it might be for them to sort.0

all walls are brick neighbours have wood paneling along adjoining wall.
No certificate for damproofing next 3 properties the other way had work done by same firm who no longer trade they also have damp issues.
By the state of the wall paper taken off the walls it was quite a while since the house was injected.0 -
Most damp warranties are insurance based so if the warranty is still in time the insurance company may still be trading. If it's affecting all your neighbours may be worth clubbing together for an independent survey0
