he gave me his name and address which i have passed to the police and my insurance companyThank you0 -
This. You can sue him in the small claims court for the amount. Did the police attend and seize his car? If not why not?
the police did not attend becacause he said he was insured. i had no reason to ring the police. infact he asked me not to ring the police as he wanted to keep it away from the insuranceThank you0 -
can the Motor Insurance Bureau help? they deal with uninsured/untraced drivers?
Also, one point, how could you possibly tell that he was doing 40mph from a brief look in your rearview, after he was screeching to a halt! Stick to the facts you can prove, ie he hit you from behind whilst you were stationary.0 -
just an update and my thoughts
i went to the doctor today and he advised that i am suffering from whiplash and gave me a prescription and neck excercises and will inform a specialist.
i spoke to the police (collision department) who have not recieved the paperwork yet even though i reported it on Saturday (and today is Tuesday) the collision department is upstars from the police station that i reported it to. Anyway they will put Urgent on my file when they recieve it which means that i will recieve an update every 28 days! they have all the information, names, addresses, phone numbers, my insurance details, but nothing.
i discovered that the car the driver was driving is insured but the driver is not. there is a possibilty that i can claim under that insurance as the owner of the car is responsible for the insuring that person is insured.
i passed all this info to the police and insurers and tried to get them to comminicate with each other. This is not funny.
i have have worked it out. as long as you dont get caught it actully pays to drive without insurance. if you get caught don't worry too much whats the worst that could happen. its not as if the police are going to do anything, send a few letters then wait for a reply, if no reply after 6 months, pass it on to the beat officer.
it costs me £25.00 a day in travel to work + all the hassle.
The Vw that i had has been in the family since brand new. i got it off my sister in law who brought a passat from Vw.
The area that i drove in where the accident occoured on known for cars that do not have insurance.
I cannot afford another car at the moment.
i'm really p***** off.Thank you0 -
Three months ago when a speeder/tailgater from a local takeaway went into the back of my car, I remember calling Admiral and waiting for the awkward silence as they verified that the other car was in fact insured.
It was like winning a competition... "and I have some good news, congratulations"
If this is the scale of the problem, Police need to do more. A heck of a lot more. They should all be out catching uninsured drivers as far as im concerned, because they probably dont have a license to drive either.
Or they can go catch my new pet hate, hoodies riding bicycles... at night... with no lights.0 -
Didn't want to involve the insurance, ha, talk about alarm bells........ I would have called 999Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

I think you likely missed a trick though, for £800 I would have though you could have got them to pay just to avoid the police record.
slightly OT but not wanting to use insurance isnt uncommon, i had a low speed bump in the snow last year and offered to pay as I knew my insurance would jump £400 a year till I got my no claims back.
Financially it would have been cheaper, unfortunately I bumped a rover 75 so repairs got a bit tricky and I did end up using my insurance so now i have lost my ncb.0 -

My dad once got shunted from behind the guy straight away said I've got no insurance can i pay for the damage now and pulled out a wad of cash bigger than my dad had ever seen in his life. My being being fully comp and a decent chap said no ill get my insurance to sort it.
Later turned out the car was stolen. Why exactly he offered to pay rather than just drive off is know only to himself.0 -

You forgot the word "eventually" on the end of that sentence. You'll see about 90% of the money in 12-18 monthshe gave me his name and address which i have passed to the police and my insurance company
This is wrong too. He gave you a name and address.0 -
Bradford was the pilot for the whole ANPR thing, most of the city is covered in it and has been for ages.
Doesn't seem to be working so well. I guess because it can only trace the uninsured driver if the car is correctly registered to the owner and thus it will only catch out people who forgot to renew, rather than those doing it intentionally.0
