I must have spent 6+ hours today searching here, searching there, looking, reading, searching, googling, on RM and other sites... still can't find an affordable caravan of any sort. Some want £6k/year for fees!!

One of the downsides to being single - perpetual poverty. If I'd got hooked up early I'd easily be living in a £500k house by now, with a lovely holiday caravan somewhere .... without the costs of any of it even touching the sides.

As it is, it's one long life of looking and dreaming. That 2nd salary's purely fun money isn't it....

There is a 4 bed park home available here asking 135k - I keep meaning to look in to whether it would be suitable as a BTL.
    I think....

Most wouldn't. Most sites would say "no" in the lease, but one of the BIG issues about any park home living is keeping to the site rules or getting given your marching orders PDQ - and I mean PDQ. So you'd be responsible for the actions of others, in a way you don't get with a house.

You'd be making a rod for your own back - and one wrong tenant and you'd be told to get your van off their site .... and then what do you do?

Costs to exit are steep too, when you resell.

The grass is looking greener on the other side of the fence, me thinks.

What your describing would bring a whole lot of new "issues" that you haven't got now.

Thing is, if being a couple were the main answer to living in a £500k house an awful lot more people would be living in half mill houses.

Yes, and what second salary is it that PN is talking about? Sometimes my DW was a SAHM, and at other times she had a job, but a salary....:(

It's that way for many couples.
  • Sibley put this thread up hoping to incite an argument. Instead people have debated the merits of a static home. Brilliant. Better luck next time Sibley.

Alternatively, why not buy a townhouse in a slum like Rangsit?

Do you mean my house? :)

You ought to get your facts right before you open your mouth.
