Boss from hell / poor colleague

  • Just as an update...

Colleague went off sick and then gardening leave until the end of the year (31.12.2010) when her employment was ceased.

She had her solicitor go over the terms of the compromise agreement and I think she was happy with the payout (equated to about 50% of a years salary + all outstanding leave of about 33 days).

I've heard numerous reports that said colleague looks glowing and relaxed and the emails that we've exchanged this year give me the impression that this truly has been a blessing in disguise for her and that she is well rid :T

And new year new start for me as I'm job hunting... Someone once told me that you don't leave a company, you leave a boss.... How true in our case.

How do these psychos get away with it?:cool:
  • Glad to hear that she's sounding alot better.

It's true about the boss thingy - having a good manager is crucial in any role.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

    Good advice

This could even be constructive dismissal / bullying etc etc

I my opinion, this is what it is. I had a similar experience with my last boss. Funny enough, after I went through the Grievance process, they found no grounds; they only spoke to his mates management, and ignored the fact I had detailed instances + witnesses - not interviewed, upon appeal and in the perfect knowledge he had tried previously to do this to someone else 3yrs earlier I won my case !!:j

However, a couple of months down the line I was made redundant :o. Whilst going through the redundancy process, 1st interview I said little, listen to them & reasons.

2nd interview listed again then towards the end said - This relates to xxx & I therefore deem this as constructive dismissal / bullying etc etc. A pin could have dropped & be heard !

Suffice to say my meeting witness nearly pee'd themselves; he knew the background, was independent & if pushed could also corroborate to my case but I had better witnesses.

Funny enough I got a good package, plus assured refs would be ok.

Constructive dismissal is hard to prove but, if able to, any fine is unlimited.
