dumb question?

Options
apologies if this really is asking the obvious but having just read all through the info on switching suppliers,I have a dumb question.. we are on standard tariff with BG for gas and electric, quarterly bill. from what I can make out we are better to change to their online tariff called websaver 10,where apparently it just means emailed bills and direct debits.
Havent changed suppliers ever before and got a bit put off by some horror stories I just read on here, but we would be doing the sensible thing,,right

desperately trying to save some money but acting like a nervous new homeowner that I am
thanks

Have you put your annual consumption figures into one of the comparison sites ? Websaver 10 is about 17% cheaper than standard tarriff but there are many cheaper rates out there.

If you really dont want to change suppliers then yes, that would almost certainly be the cheapest option for you.

But why not do some comparisons and see who would be cheapest for you? Chances are Websaver10 isnt the cheapest option for you overall (certainly doesnt seem competitive in my area)

Also consider a fixed price option, you could save money by going for one and make sure prices dont go up for a year or two. It really all depends on your usage and what you would prefer to do..

First contact BG and advise them you do not accept their increase and that you are to change supplier they will then have to keep you on existing tariff until you change but you must change(at least start to) within 2 weeks and the change process can take up to 12 weeks so at least you save on the increase for the time being.
I found the Which web sight gives an unbiased comparison between suppliers.
Once you have selected a new supplier then try confused to see if any cshback is on offer.
