sitting here in the Living room, about 2 - 3 meters from the Linksys wireless router
have 1 laptop & 1 notebook successfully connected to the router
however have got another laptop, which has previously worked without any problems to the same router
for some unknown reason tonight I can't connect this laptop even though the settings are set to automatically connect to it
have been trying for the past 2 hours to connect without any success
can anyone shed any light on my connection problem
thanks

What do you get? 'Limited or no connectivity'
Try connecting via LAN cable. Check password.
Check wireless card is operating properly via device manager.
Delete, re-establish connection.
Check laptop against another wifi network.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
Thanks, I've answered your points below
What do you get? 'Limited or no connectivity'
Nothing what so ever
Try connecting via LAN cable. Check password.
have tried connecting via setting new wireless device, when I do this, all I get is told you already have a device with the same name
Check wireless card is operating properly via device manager.
have checked device manager, everything appears to be working fine, no obvious signs
Delete, re-establish connection.
have been thinking about doing this
Check laptop against another wifi network.
the strange thing is I've had this laptop set up to the linksys router for over 12 month's, with out any problems, so what's happened now
the only thing I can find is under Network Map/network map of wireless connections, below it states "The adaptor is not connected"
could this be the issue0 -
under trouble shooting I have a number of things highlighted
Wireless capability is turned off, detected
it states use switch on the front or side, this laptop (Dell Inspiron 1750) has no such switch either on the front or on the side
a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken,
if so how come 2 other laptops work fine off the same router0 -
Have you tried the ethernet cable? It may be a duplicate IP address also, or a wireless from elsewhere(neighbours). Can you see your wireless from it? Try using inssider from http://www.metageek.net
That will look for any channels

My post crossed with yours, have you checked for the switch on the lappy or a Fn+Function Key for wireless on/off?4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

I'm pretty certain the laptop does not have such a switch, it usually connects automatically via the built in wireless connection
btw I'm usually the exact laptop via wireless connection as we type/speak (we have 2 of the same laptops in the house)0 -
there should be a little sliding switch on the very front edge of the lappy or a function key (F2????) that looks like this ((!))
the F key
needs a Fn key
the front key is easy to move by accident4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -

its set up to connect automatically to the router, however it can't see it or pick it up, yet its only 2 -3 metres away0 -
