Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro (P200) which fires up (you can hear windows start) but there is no display. You can see the backlight is working. It also works when connected to an external monitor.
Any clues? Is it the screen? Inverter?
Thanks in advance

if the backlight is working then I would expect the inverter is too. the graphic card may be shot, have you tried plugging an external monitor or compatible TV into the laptop and see if that works?Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0

sounds like either the screen's data cable has gone (easier and cheaper
) or the graphics chipset is on the way out (not switching/driving correct outputs - harder and much more expensive
) If manually switching display mode works, suspect the former...

The laptop works fine when connected to an external monitor so fingers crossed it isn't the graphics card. Gonna take it apart and check connections tonight, hopefully something is loose/faulty.

if you can find the part number or similar identifying feature, probably, even if it is on ebay. Tosh's website will probably have a parts beakdown in the user or service manuals somewhere
And yes, they can be replaced, with a certain amount of stripping down the lappy until you can get to either end - that may not be for the faint-hearted, but again, the user/service manual
